Counts are estimates

When you lift bark you see who is active, not every juvenile in the substrate. Treat population numbers as estimates and write down how you looked.

Sellable stock is a separate number from the animals you keep back so the colony can recover. Reserved and hold-back animals are not for sale, even if the bin looks full.

If you are unsure of a count, say so. A confident wrong number causes overselling.
